Workshops are an integral part of the sourcing process:
Cross-functional supplier workshops
- Suppliers are invited to attend cross-functional workshops
Workshop format
Through the sharing of information and Maersk Procurement’s unique market insight, the workshops focus on improving the procurement process and help suppliers optimise processes such as cost setup, product specification, logistic or procurement capabilities. Suppliers are requested to ensure that all relevant technical and commercial staff participate.
The workshops are conducted in an open-minded environment to discuss:
- industry best practice
- cost breakdown feedback
- TCO
- cost-saving idea generation in which the ‘idea owner’, ‘monetary impact’ and ‘timeline’ for each idea are discussed thoroughly
- design to cost
Please note that the workshops are not a negotiation forum.
Workshop analysis
- Maersk Procurement assesses suppliers’ responsiveness, ability to improve the TCO, supplier’s team setup and cost saving ideas
- A limited number of suppliers will be invited to participate in Step 4
Benefits for the supplier
Suppliers use the workshops to promote alternative solutions and concepts, while gaining full market insight. In addition, suppliers receive cost breakdown feedback and enter into open discussions with A.P. Moller - Maersk purchasers and experts.
